It's official! Time flies!! The last time I noticed, it was January and there was plenty of time to get ready for "Lincolns for the Library." What happened? How could it already be February?? Although we are a little late in getting started, we would still like to run our program.
This year we are teaming with the "Pennies for Pasta" program which helps children with leukemia. Part of the money we collect this year will be donated to this program. The remainder of the money collected will be used to purchase books for giveaway to our B-W students in grades 3 through 5. Our students in grades K through 2 already receive free R.I.F. books.
We know that times are tough right now, but we would like our students to experience the pride that you feel when helping others in need. Please check for any spare change that you may have around the house and send it in with your child.
Donations may be made at any time, not only on your child's library day. We will gladly accept "Lincolns," "Washingtons," or any other monetary amount that you wish to donate. If you wish to write a check, please make is payable to Benchley-Weinberger.
Thank you very much for your generosity.
Terri Knight, Librarian
We have links to the program guidelines and .pdf versions of the reading logs (K-3 and 4-5) which we'll use to record our titles and pages. Students: Turn in your reading logs to earn prizes from our treasure chest and watch your rocket zoom through the solar system on our school-wide chart, "Let Reading Take You Out of This World."
Please remember, all students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades must read, or have read to them, 10 books per reading sheet. Adults must write in the books titles for our younger readers on the reading log. Students in 4th and 5th grade must read 250 pages per reading log.
See the 2008 Rules & Examples.
Adult/guardians: please remember to sign the reading sheets. Teachers, too! Learn more»
