Last Chance!

Due to the winter holidays and the fact that so many classes were off-campus during January, we have decided to extend the "Lincolns for the Library" program. The last day to turn in "Lincolns for the Library" will be on Lincoln's birthday, Tuesday, February 12th. Please help us meet our goal this year. Learn more»

We Celebrate

This month we celebrate Martin Luther King Day on January 21st. The King Center is a useful starting place to learn more about this Nobel Peace Prize winner's life and work in social justice and non-violent activism.

Children's Book Awards

The American Library Association announced the winners of several children's book awards today.

The John Newbery Medal for best children's book in the U.S.: Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village by Laura Schlitz

The Randolph Caldecott award for best picture book: The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Brian Selznick


The Theodore Seuss Geisel Award for "the most distinguished book for beginning readers": There Is a Bird On Your Head, by Mo Willems
