Children's Book Awards Announced

The American Library Association announced the winners of several children's book awards this week.

The John Newbery Medal for best children's book in the U.S.:When You Reach Me, by Rebecca Stead
The Randolph Caldecott award for best picture book: The Lion and the Mouse, by Jerry Pinkney
The Theodore Seuss Geisel Award for "the most distinguished book for beginning readers": Benny and Penny in the Big No-No!, written and illustrated by Geoffrey Hayes
