Author Visit News
November 8th
Arizona children's author Dow Kump offered students a 3-D animated PowerPoint presentation introducing his novel Project 00. Music, exciting storytelling, and colorful illustrations brought the book to life.
Project 00 recounts the adventures of a 13-year-old boy and his brother. Stranded at sea in the Pacific, they're rescued by a military vessel conducting a secret experiment. But the captain holds them hostage to prevent information about the project from leaking out. The brothers must devise a plan to escape and to warn the world of the dangerous project. Project 00 is appropriate for reading levels 4th through 8th grades.
During his visit, Mr. Kump spoke about the writing process and about becoming an author himself. He outlined the steps to engaging readers with good writing and rewriting, and encouraged students to follow the steps to becoming star writers themselves.
Dow Kump is also the author of Scooter's Sparkling Stone, a colorful picture book for younger readers.
You'll find more information at his website, http://www.dowkump.com.
