Several very special guests have visited our library for a short while -- while they've metamorphosed from caterpillars to butterflies, that is.

Mrs. Patti Ranger has given us butterfly pupae so we may watch the transformation of these remarkable creatures from their juvenile to adult forms. Gulf Fritillaries and a Giant Swallowtail pupae hang from twigs in our licorice jar. Their transformation depends somewhat on the temperature in the room, but we hope to see signs of butterflies in 20-30 days. Be sure to look out for our new friends on your next visit to the library. Mrs. Knight has photo/information sheets about them so you can learn more. But ssshhh -- do not disturb -- they're hard to work!
